FAQ

There are so many people in band, will I fit in?

Without a doubt, the best part about band is the people. Ask any current band student
and they will tell you the same. We are a big family and there is room for YOU! Band is
the biggest and most welcoming organization in the school and we have a place and a
role for EVERYONE! We cannot wait for you to join our band family.

Can I be in band and in other activities such as sports?

YES! Many band students participate in various other clubs, activities, and sports. Band
students are encouraged be active members in all school activities. However, marching
band is a fall activity and presents challenges with other fall sports. If you have
concerns or questions about how we can work with a specific club, sport, or
organization contact Mr. Darnall at anthony.darnall@christian.kyschools.us.

Does band take up my whole summer?

No! In fact, band students have the majority of the summer off. We like to schedule
toward the end of summer to allow students time to rest, take vacations, and have time
for other activities. A full schedule for summer and fall is posted on the New Members
page to allow families to opportunity to schedule their summer accordingly.

Am I good enough to be in marching band?

Of course! Your middle school band experience has given you everything you need to
join the marching band. The great thing about marching band is every year is a new
show and we start at square one. Everyone is on the same page and we learn together!

Is marching band really hard? Should I be afraid of marching band?

In marching band we like to say things aren’t hard, they are just new. Like anything you
do for the first time, you won’t be perfect in the beginning. Marching band is a unique
and exciting experience in that way. We only ever ask you to try your hardest. The best
part is, you will have over two hundred other people who are learning with you and who
are eager to help!

What should I do if I have a conflict with a rehearsal or performance?

Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory. It is expected that band
will be a priority. Please consult the band schedule before making appointments. Early
